Meet Adriane from ART Photography

Where did you draw your inspiration from for this session?

From Miss A (the little girl in the session)! She is not only a client but also my son’s little friend. She is so sassy, sweet and fun but also such a little diva! She always has accessories on and the cutest outfits. Her mom kept going back and forth on what to dress her in but together we were able to come up with something already in her closet (ya, she totally had this in her closet!). And I wanted some things for her to play with so I figured out how to make a rhythmic ribbon which she loved. Also, the location was inspiration as we don’t have a ton of green and trees here in the desert.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given in your career or that you would like to give to others?

To never put the camera down! Keep practicing and keep shooting. I feel like Dori from Finding Nemo, “Just keep shooting, just keep shooting”. Oh, and learn how to FIND that gorgeous yummy light! And not to compare myself to others – this one is super tough for me because I don’t feel like my work is great compared to many others but I need to own it and love it and this session I do!

We would love to hear how you got started in photography and a little about you and your business!

It was by accident! I had a DSLR and obsession for photography. I worked for a large Habitat for Humanity as the volunteer coordinator and got the nickname, “paparazzi” as I always had my camera in hand as I popped up through trussed and through window frames…and that was just with a point and shoot. I started to teach myself Photoshop with those photos. When I got my DSLR or my “fancy camera”, it I took it everywhere with me. After having my son and I joined some play groups, I had some of the moms ask me if I would take pictures for them. My first paid session was in May of 2011 from a friend who would not let me do it for free and she was and still is my number one referral source! With all the referrals I was getting, I decided I should start the business and became official in January 2012. I have been incredibly blessed to be super busy, learn lots and meet a ton of amazing friends!
